Sparklight requires customers to use a DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem. These modems incorporate the latest cable technology, have the capability to deliver faster internet speeds, and have a longer expected lifetime. Below is a list of compatible modems that will work on the Sparklight Business network.
Sparklight Business will supply the necessary modem to power Business Phone services.

Can I purchase my own modem for static IP service?
Sparklight requires that you lease a modem for static IP service. We know that the quality and reliability of service for your business is important to you, and we want to ensure that the device providing connectivity for your business supports the latest technology and has the best level of support from Sparklight.
Benefits of leasing a modem from Sparklight Business?
If you lease a modem from Sparklight Business, any problems with the modem we will take care of generally within 4-hours or less. No need to go to the big box stores to buy a new modem, Sparklight Business will fix the issue remotely or replace the modem often the same day.
For Customers in PON Markets:
Your Sparklight Fiber Internet service will be using a device known as an ONU instead of modems. We provide a complimentary ONU to support your fiber service and do not currently support customer-owned ONU’s. We offer and support Business WiFi service for $9.95 per month. These systems will maximize your wireless experience. However, if you prefer to obtain a router for multi-Gig speed. Below are the devices which are available in the retail stores,

NOTE: For Multi-Gig speed, If you opt to purchase your own router and in the event your router may be causing service issues you will need to contact your manufacturer for additional support.
In order to take advantage of our fastest speeds, there are certain infrastructure requirements that you may need to check.
Modem: Are you using a DOCSIS 3 modem? To reach speeds over 100 Mbps, you will need to use a D3 modem.
Router: If you are using your own router, is the equipment you own capable of reaching max speeds? Confirm that your equipment is rated to handle speeds greater than 100 Mbps.
Wiring: Is your wiring (Ethernet cabling) Cat5E or Cat6E? Standard Cat5 Ethernet cable may hinder your ability to go over 100 Mbps. By installing Cat5E or Cat6E, you can ensure you’re receiving the fastest speed.
Devices: Are the devices that are you using to connect to the data service capable of reaching 500 Mbps or greater speeds? Check to see if your computers or wireless devices are gigabit capable or equipped with gigabit Ethernet adapters.
Firewall: Is your firewall limited in terms of the traffic it can accommodate? If your IT personnel installed a firewall, they can tell you if there are any limitations on the amount of traffic that can be routed to the internet.

Q: Will Internet Backup Service cover my entire Internet services?
A: The Internet Backup Service is intended for Sparklight Business Internet customers who have devices that need to remain connected during a service outage. This solution covers critical devices that are connected to the Cradlepoint E100 device (Internet Backup Service device), providing protection when the primary internet device is offline.
Q: Will I receive an alert when my primary internet goes down?
A: The entire process is seamless as this service will not cause any interruption to your business. At this time, we are working on developing an alert process where messages will be sent through the business My Account portal.
Q: Is there an additional charge if we go above the 2GB limit with Internet Backup Service?
A: No, there is no additional charge if you go over the 2GB limit. However, if you do cross the threshold, we will reduce your download speed.
Q. Can I use this service to watch videos or view my social media channels?
A. No, all social media and video streams will be blocked while Internet Backup Service is being used. This solution is to protect your business’s critical devices during an outage. You’ll be able to access social media and stream video once your primary internet service is restored.
Q. Why do I need the Internet Backup Service?
A. Internet Backup Service is intended for customers who can’t afford to experience downtime in their business. With this service, critical devices such as credit card machines, POS systems and email servers will remain running during an outage.
Q: Does Internet Backup Service protect my Wi-Fi devices as well?
A: Yes. The Sparklight Business Backup SSID will appear once the Internet Backup Service device is powered on. Your wireless devices will stay online if they are connected to that SSID.
