Small business owners recently had the opportunity to give back to the charity of their choice, just for subscribing to Cable ONE’s free business blog, TheWire. All new subscribers were automatically entered into a drawing to win one of three prizes – a Platinum Prize of $5,000, a Gold Prize of $2,500, or a Silver Prize of $1,000.
A local Dyersburg company who chose to remain anonymous was the winner of the Silver Prize and chose to direct their prize to Habitat for Humanity, whose mission is to provide safe and affordable housing for those living in substandard housing and are unable to secure an adequate home by conventional means.
Mary Claire Hopper, Executive Director of Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Tennessee, said that this donation will be used to help fund a home that will be built in the “New Hope” Habitat subdivision in Dyer County.
“Our affiliate would not be standing without the continued support from our community,” Hopper said. “The fact that Cable ONE and this anonymous donor thought enough of our ministry to award us with this donation demonstrates that people in our community believe that together, we can broaden access to affordable housing as a foundation for breaking the cycle of poverty. This donation will help us build the walls, raise the roof, and open the door to a brighter future for the next Habitat homeowner in Northwest Tennessee.”
Cable ONE General Manager Charlie Oakes said that Cable ONE is committed to strengthening and improving the communities it serves, not only through its products and services, but through support of local community and non-profit agencies.
“We’re thrilled that we can partner with local small businesses in giving back to our community,” Oakes said. “We want to ensure that we are the kind of company that our communities are proud to call a neighbor.”
